The picture I draw is less one in which the AI supervises those creatures than one in which they themselves inform and pilot diverse forms of AI on their own behalf and in their own inscrutable ways. We should crave to learn what would ensue. The insights of synthetic biology as a genre of AI, and AI as a genre of inorganic chemistry, mean little if the cycles of cybernetics are monopolized by humans’ own errands.
